Advanced Placement (AP) Classes
The Advanced Placement Program (AP) is a cooperative educational program from College Board that offers students the opportunity to take college-level work while in high school and possibly earn college credit. Students enrolled in AP courses will take the AP exam in May. Students may receive college units for each examination in which a score of 5, 4, or 3 is earned. Grades from AP courses are weighted by an additional point when averaging GPA (A= 5 points, B=4, C=3, D-F= no augmentation).
Students who enroll in AP courses do so understanding that they will have to meet higher standards of academic performance due to the rigorous curriculum. It is important that students and parents/guardians understand the expectations of these courses. More information can be found in the course catalog.
Advanced Placement Dates in May
Testing dates and times are nationally determined by College Board with limited “make-up” dates for absent students. Students who receive educational accommodations will need approval from the College Board, in which the AP coordinator, Mrs. Diaz Laris will assist.

Honors Courses
Fowler High School offers Honors courses to help prepare students for higher-level courses such as Advanced Placement (AP) in their junior and/or senior year. These courses are more rigorous than general academic classes and are designed for students to be academically challenged. Honors courses will not earn students college credits. Grades from honors courses are weighted by an additional point when averaging GPA (A= 5 points, B=4, C=3). Placement is based upon whether the student meets the designated school criteria.
